INCREASING YOUR BOTTOM LINE--PAINLESSLY!!

You know the routine: in order to "grow your business," you need to increase your revenues and/or decrease your expenses. Sure, you know this--but have you tried everything you can to achieve such an increase in profitability? Chances are you haven't..

In recent years, the insurance industry has gotten more competitive, resulting in lower rates to many businesses. Did you know this? Or did this trend pass you right by? Did your agent even bother to tell you?

Chances are, if you are like many in business, you carefully shopped around for insurance when you first started your business, then promptly forgot all about it. You simply pay the premiums (frequently increased!) almost without thought every year thereafter. Meanwhile, your agent returns the phone calls of clients who demand greater attention than you have been demanding!!

Here's what you should do now--before your policy is up for renewal. Right now, call your agent and inform him/her that you would like two things with your upcoming policy renewal: a lower quote and increased coverage! This means you want lower deductibles, and higher limits of liability provided. Politely add that you plan to ask at least two other agents at other companies for competitive quotes. And then do just that. Explain that since you have become more experienced in your industry, you have learned how to lessen your risk (whether by way of increased product quality or by simply providing cleaner premises to the public as well as to your employees). Follow up with a letter to all agents explaining the steps you have taken. [Important: Keep a copy of the letter in your files. It could be of invaluable help in a future lawsuit against your company!] If you do not have the time for such a letter, ask your attorney to prepare such a memorandum. Take advantage of the good work your company has done in reducing its risks!

You have nothing to lose and lots of money to save. Remember, responsible companies should secure the insurance coverage they need, but they need not pay higher premiums than is necessary!!
